Vaccination and Point of Distribution (POD) Clinics
These sites are available should a public health emergency like pandemic flu, smallpox, anthrax hit the area.

Where Are They?

Branford High School at 185 East Main St. will serve Branford and East Haven residents

Madison Town Campus Complex on Duck Hole Road will host Guilford, Madison and North Branford residents.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHEN TO GO?
Residents will be told when to report to their local clinic site; residents will have to be patient and flexible In an emergency, clinics will be held in the area, with the goal of vaccinating or distributing medication to the entire population. If there are vaccine or medication supply shortages, the clinic will strictly follow the state priority groupings. With smallpox, the clinics would run for at least 10 days; for antibiotic distribution, the clinics would run for 48 to 72 hours.

Announcements of these clinics will be made by local and state Television and Radio. Clinics will provide educational information about the disease, vaccine, antibiotic, etc., and residents will have the opportunity to have their medical concerns answered by trained medical personnel.

Clinic Transportation, Staging Sites to transport residents to vaccination, or antibiotic distribution clinics will be announced at the time of an event.

WHAT TO BRING TO A CLINIC SITE:
Time on site will be at least an hour plus travel time.
Identification: Driver's License, Passport, Personal mail with address, Other ID with address.
Essentials: Food, diapers and toys for small children in clear plastic bags similar to airport security. Weather-appropriate clothes with easy access to the upper arm.
DO NOT BRING: Large back packs or luggage. No pets are allowed into the clinic sites with the exception of service animals.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE CLINIC SITE:
Intake: Initial check-in area where directions and information is given.
Educational Presentation: Information to be distributed to better inform the public on the relevant public health emergency, and the medication or vaccine being distributed or administered
Consent Forms - All vaccine recipients must read and sign consent forms
Counseling - For those with medical contra-indications and questions
Vaccination/dispensing - Vaccination or medication distribution occurs at this area. Type of remedy (i.e. antibiotics vs. vaccination) depends on type of public health risk.

Exit Interview - Those vaccinated or given medication will receive additional health guidelines for post-clinic medical care
