(Note that Food Trucks have different sign-off requirements, which can be discussed with the Sanitarian assigned to your plan review. All Food Trucks must obtain a Vendor Badge from the Police Department)

Participating in a Temporary Event?

A temporary event is when a food establishment operates for a period of no more than 14 consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration. Examples include Town festivals, carnivals and single day events.

  1. Submit a Temporary Event Application with payment at least 14 days prior to the event. A late fee will be charged if received within 14 days.
  2. A Sanitarian will contact you to review your application and set up a time for inspection.

The health district inspects and licenses over 400 food establishments, most of which are inspected multiple times per year. The main purpose of our inspection program is to ensure food safety and to prevent the occurrence of food borne illness in our communities. Special attention is given to safe food practices, prevention of food contamination and food temperature control. We also perform facility plan reviews for new or renovated food establishments to ensure that the physical plant and its equipment are conducive to safe food preparation and service. The health district requires temporary licenses for food that is offered at temporary events and farmers markets. Reports of food borne illness and complaints regarding sanitation of food establishments are handled and investigated by the health district.
